A Life and Travel Blog for the over 30's
Its no secret, I love afternoon tea. I love everything about it, and my plan is to as experience as many as possible. I think my waistline may protest, but Im going to give it a go. (Have a look at another one I experienced in this post.)
Recently, I treated my mum to afternoon tea at One Aldwych, the gorgeous hotel in the heart of London’s Covent Garden.
Like lots of the afternoon teas, this one was themed, and the theme was Charlie and the Chocolate factory. The fabulous show of the same name was shown at the nearby Drury Lane theatre, so assume thats why that particular theme.
We arrived at the hotel a little early, and was promptly offered champagne. I have good manners. It would have been rude to say no….
When our afternoon tea arrived, it really was a festival of colour! A visual delight. You could see that a lot of thought had gone into the menu. Fluffy candy floss, golden eggs filled with mouse, cake pops adorned with glitter, it was all so pretty
As is the norm with these sweet affairs, there was too much to eat. They did very kindly box the remainder up for me to take home to my boys, so they were happy. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at One Aldwych, it was lovely. Our day was finished with some shopping, (of course) and people watching in Covent Garden. A fabulous day!
Please feel free to recommend any afternoon teas you have enjoyed. Im always happy to try recommendations haha
