Matte liquid lipsticks can be a tough one. Often they are drying and give you the weird, whats-happened-to-your-lipstick ring around the outside of your lips. They feel a little uncomfortable and, well, dry!
I quite like the look of a matte lip on me, and I personally find that they last longer. I have tried a lot of them, from the less expensive to the higher end, but I think this one, (the Bare Minerals Gen Nude Liquid Lip to give it its full title) is one of my favourites.
Unusually for me, I actually went for a colour! I tend to go for a nude. Normally….. Always….. I have a gazillion nudes…….but, I chose the colour Swag, a deep pinky colour. To be fair, I liked four of them, (“Boss” was gorgeous) and if I was feeling indulgent, (and richer) I would have bought all four. The colours were so lovely and the four I liked seemed to suit me. A rarity. Have a look at the colour range here
The texture of the lip colour is quite creamy. It feels nice to apply. Im not a massive fan of the applicator, but that is more because it seems quite hard to scrape all the excess colour off it, so I find you can get a “blob” and it can get a little messy. Its not a huge issue, just something I found.
Durability wise, I found that this colour stayed well. I didn’t apply a lip liner first as I wanted to really road test it, (but I have done since and prefer it). I applied it as I was leaving for work, and it lasted well up until about 3 o clock. I don’t really drink cups of tea etc through the day, but I do talk, a lot, all day, so it did stand up pretty well. (The photo on the right above is the wear after 4 hours)
I also was happy to find that it didn’t go all flaky and tacky feeling as it wore either, a massive plus point in my opinion as thats what I have found others I have tried have done.
Im definitely a fan of these, and will be adding a couple more colours. I don’t think £17 is too extortionate either. Thumbs up from me.
