A Travel and Lifestyle Blog
Bobbi Brown is one of my favourite make up brands, and when they bring out a new product, Im always interested!
My make up at the minute is quite minimal. I especially love keeping my eyes simple with just a neutral eyeshadow and coat of mascara. Thats my look of the moment, and Bobbi Brown has a fab range of barely there colours.
Now, if you have read my blog before, you will know how I feel about the whole “make up rules” shiz, especially when aimed at ladies of more, shall we say, advanced years. It annoys me and I am a true believer in that you can wear whatever blooming make up you like, just maybe applied/styled a little differently. We all know my love of a shimmery/glittery eyeshadow! (Im looking at you Charlotte Tilbury eye pallet, full review here)
Well according to the rule book, at my age, I should not wear a cream based eyeshadow. Well, the rule book can do one. I blooming love a cream based eyeshadow and these Bobbi Brown ones are flippin amazing! The first one I purchased was from the brands original line up, the single ended colour in Truffle. A neutral, creamy colour which is just perfect for my current favoured make up look. I then just happened to see that they had brought out a double ended range, with complimenting colours at each end, for just £3 more than the single. How on earth am I meant to resist? My second purchase was the dual ended in Dusty Mauve/Malted Pink which may sound vile, but trust me, its a beauty!
So how do they perform? Often, the term “longwear” can be a little misleading, as some of the longwear items Iv tried are just not. These however, are true to the word. They really do stay put. In my day job, my work days are 11 hours long, and testament to their staying power, my last client of the night complimented me on the gorgeous colour, (applied over 10 hours earlier, with no top up). It still looked pretty darn perfect. No creases, no patches. The texture is just gorgeous too. I tend to apply straight from the stick, then blend a little to soften the edge with a shadow brush or my finger tip. They are creamy, non dragging and so blend-able. Once applied, the colour dries to a water resistant finish. I just love them. They do offer a huge range of colours, in both the single ended and double. You can view the whole range here.
I would 100% recommend these shadow sticks. They are easy to use, long wearing and, despite being a cream, do not fall into the apparent massive-crater-wrinkles-and-dry-saggy-eye-lids that Im bound to have now Im over 30, according to the (now-defunct in my eyes), rule book…….
