A Travel and Lifestyle Blog
I literally cannot believe that Im writing a five favourite things post again. It honestly feels like just last week I was sharing my love of posh tea and tanning oil! Crazy eh?
April has been a busy month, peppered with birthdays, girl time meet ups, shopping and decorating! I struggled with my five faves this month, as I felt I had a few worthy of the heady heights on top five. Still, I battled through and have my selection. I hope you enjoy x
I make no apologies for the amount of time I spend in the bath. I am half woman, half mermaid, Im convinced. It is my time to relax. My absolute dream bath is the addition of a decadent, luxurious bath oil or bubbles. For Mothers Day this year my boys treated me to this Laura Mercier bathing nectar. The fragrance is a mix of coconut and almond mainly, which may sound sickly sweet but its actually quite warming and softly scented. It comes with a little wooden twizzle stick, that you put into the bath honey then put under running water. The result is hundreds of tiny, scented bubbles. It is fairly expensive for a bubble bath, I know that, but its my little luxury treat and indulgence at the end of a long working day. Bliss!
I think you can see by the well used appearance of this little wand of wonder, (sorry, I wanted to show how much I use it) that I blooming love it! I have tried many concealers, high end and more affordable ranges, but this £8 one is The One. We are going to have a long and happy relationship. It dosent cake or crease, it blends beautifully and the colour “light” is a perfect match for my complexion. The coverage is brilliant, and I find that I can literally use where needed, applying straight from the tube with the little sponge applicator on top. I then blend it with my foundation brush, and Im good to go. No other base product required other than a dusting of powder. It is slightly light reflecting too, so great for helping disguise those fine lines and dark circles. I have even already bought a back up so I never run out. Unheard of for me! Maybelline Eraser Eye concealer, you have won my heart.
This scent is a totally different kind of scent for me. I tend to wear Tom Ford mainly, so quite heady and masculine. My husband bought me this offering from Zadig and Voltaire, called “This is Her” as a treat. At first I was worried as it wasn’t a perfume that I had heard of, and had never smelt. Usually, my husband is pretty forward thinking and gets me a sample of any perfume that he buys me, so that I can try it before unwrapping the purchased one. That way it can be returned if I don’t like it. Good thinking eh! Well according to the fragrance house, this perfume is the fragrance of a free woman with a rebel mind. Is this is what made my husband buy it? He would definitely agree with the rebel mind! Its a gorgeous mix of vanilla, chestnut and sandalwood and I literally cannot stop wearing it. It lasts all day and is my new obsession! Try it ladies, its a beaut!
I know, I know, this is a weird one but trust me, being just 5ft 3, anything that helps my short arse in life gets a thumbs up from me! We are renovating our bedroom at the moment, and for maximum storage, we have gone for fitted furniture, which was put in recently. In one of my wardrobes, I have a double hanging rail, and the top rail has a handle that pulls it down to my teeny tiny height! It is a game changer. I can get my stuff down with out calling one of my sons, jumping up in a leap of faith, hoping to grasp the item Im after, or getting a step! I couldnt really think of a way to photograph a wardrobe rail in an interesting way, so forgive the lack of photo!
If you read my post about trying to get back to a healthier, fitter version of me, (here) you would have read that I have been slowly trying to change over to a predominately plant based diet. It makes sense for me, since I am a non meat eater anyway, Im halfway there! I have always been a fan of the deliciously Ella books, but Niomi, (my new bestie, if we ever met obvs) is a new discovery. I am literally obsessed with watching her “what I eat in a day” videos on Youtube, pad and pen in hand, scribbling down the meals that look amazing. I love her whole approach to life, her positivity, her love of yoga and meditation, everything really. Her recipe book is brilliant, and I have made several of the meals, all with success. This just shows how easy they are to make, trust me! If you fancy trying some tasty, healthy meals, Id definitely tell you to have a look at her channel or blog. They are fab.
(Im not trying to claim the lunch below as a “meal Iv cooked”. I am a slightly better cook than just avo on toast haha, but its so lovely and the lunch Im obsessing about, so……….ta-daaaa)
