Pretty, Glowing Summer Skin

August 3, 2017

Summer. That beautiful time of the year we all crave and look forward to. (Im a huge fan of all the seasons by the way, no favouritism here). I love all of the summer inspired products that are also launched by the beauty brands as the weather warms up. We are treated to coconut scented products in abundance, offered the promise of glowing skin with new make up items and told our tresses will be tousled with beach wave hair products.

One of my favourite offerings this year, (in fact most years) is the shimmer body products that the brands entice us with. Lightly sun-kissed skin can be enhanced and beautified with these shimmer and glitter infused offerings, bringing a full on holiday vibe to every day.

one of my summer go to make up items

Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting up with the lovely Lauretta, the lady that writes the Home and Horizon blog, (check it out here) in Bluewater. We had been chatting online for a little while, and as we are not a million miles away from each other, met up for lunch. We had a lovely time, and decided that we should of course walk our pizza lunch off with a spot of make up shopping. Lauretta was interested in picking up my summer must have product that I had raved about in a blog post, (My Secret Make Up Weapon In the Summer Months) so we headed into The Body Shop.

I will be honest here and say that I don’t tend to shop in The Body Shop as much these days. Like many of us, I was obsessed with their body butters and bath and shower products (Dewberry perfume anyone?) when I was younger. I even worked for them for a while doing the Body Shop at Home parties when I had my first son, but I just don’t tend to wander in there so much anymore. Going in there with Lauretta made me remember that I really should. They have so many great items, and their summer products are fab. Lots of fresh, cooling body sprays, summer scented body butters and summer make up to leave you looking like the sun kissed goddess you are! The Honey Bronze range of products really is a great range. It consists of bronzers, leg tan mist, highlighters, all manor of products to help you enhance your summer tan. I really wished I’d picked up the body BB cream from them too. I think I may have to pop back for that one…….

I love the entire Honey Bronze range from the Body Shop

On this visit, I picked up the Shimmering Dry Oil. It is a fare-trade honey infused body oil (that, as the name indicates, goes on like a beautiful oil but feels dry), infused with subtle shimmer and scented with the very essence of balmy, hazy summer days. Designed to add hydration and sheen to your bare arms, legs and décolleté, it is subtle, so it dosent make you look like a glitter throwback to the 80’s. It looks amazing over a light tan, adding a depth and warmth to enhance your glowing skin. I love this for adding subtle sheen to my shoulders and décolleté when wearing a summer dress, and it will be packed into my suitcase to come on holiday with me later this month. A fab, reasonably priced make up item that I am sure you will enjoy. You can find full details of all the products mentioned here.

What do you think? Any items that you love to take on holidays to enhance your summer make up looks? Id love to hear.

I’m in need of updating my summer make ups, these look fab. I am always scared of looking like the 80’s throwback you describe, so good to know it can be avoided. Body shop is somewhere I haven’t been in a while. Your post (and beautiful photos) have put it on my next stop!
