Eyemake up is probably my favourite make up to do. Im not saying that Im amazing at doing it, just that I love applying it. I love the whole process of choosing the shadows Im going to use each day, deciding if Im going full make up or very natural and nude. Its just my thing that I lurvvveeee.
Longwear eye make up products can often disappoint by not staying as put as you would have hoped. I have bought a couple of eyeliners in the past that claimed to be long wear, and they have smudged, faded or left marks under my eye. I was on the look out for something that stayed put and had a glossy, rich blackness to it.
If you have read my little ole blog for a while, you would know I make no apologies for being a lover of high end make up, and the iconic packaging of Chanel make the brand undoubtedly one of my favourites. When I saw the new offering from Chanel in the eyeliner stakes a few weeks ago, like a moth to a flame, I was enticed. I loved the concept and what it claimed, that it had 8 hour of longwear and waterproof colour, intense colour and fluid, glide on application. This eyeliner has been called a pen by the brand, and that it what it is like. It has a firm brush applicator, that you can tun to get a thin line, or a fuller line, depending on the look you desire. I also love that this eyeliner works in a similar way to an old fashioned fountain ink pen! (Sorry those of you too young to know what I am talking about……)
The product comes with the pen, and the “ink” cartridge separate, and you screw the ink cartridge into the top of the eyeliner pen. When you push the cartridge into the pen, you wait a couple of minutes and the colour seeps into the brush.
I think this is one of my favourite applicators that I have come across in an eyeliner. It reminds me of the brush that is on the YSL Touche Eclat, but a smaller version. It allows you to draw a fluid line, and depending on what side of the brush you use, it can be a thick or thin line. The brush has a narrow side for thin line, or if a sweep of dramatic liner is your look, you would use the flat side.
This bad boy does not budge! It says its longwear, and it is. The colour is a rich, glossy black and it stays put. If you follow me on Instagram, you would have seen this regualy feature in my “Eye Makeup of The Day” pictures. It has become my go to eyeliner. I love that I can go quite dramatic with a neutral/nude eyeshadow, or just enhance my lash line with a thin line and keep it simple. There is no smudging whatsoever, not even when I have done hours of massage in my day job and my face has got warm. Not. One. Bit. Of. Smudge. Winner!!!!
Like most of the high end make up brands, this product from Chanel is not the cheapest, (£31, see it here) but I do think it is worth it. (I often save my Boots points to treat myself to a higher end purchase) The benefit to having the cartridge is that you can see when your running out. I know that can seem a little gimmicky, but I kinda like it! I have been using this almost daily for about five weeks, and the little cartridge still looks full. I also always love having an item of Chanel in my make up bag. The quality never lets me down. Im a brand junkie, I fully admit it!
If you have been looking for your perfect match, an eyeliner that can give you a great, intense, stay put satiny blackness, then I may have just introduced you to your lobster…..
