My Top Five Products of The Year – A 2017 roundup

December 20, 2017

As we come to the closing stages of the year, I thought I would share with you some of my top purchases and discoveries this year. Iv another post about the highlights of my year on a personal level, so this one is focusing on products only. I have definitely not bought as much this year. I had a two month, experimental spending ban, I was more mindful with my purchases, and my mind was elsewhere a lot of this year! I have still discovered some amazing products though that I feel I need to share with you gorgeous lot xx

Charlotte Tilbury Beauty glow Instant Look Palette

I did a full review of this little palette of wonder, back in July, you can read it here if you would like to. I was so impressed with it back then, and this love affair continued throughout the remainder of the year.  I think I love it so much because the colours just suit my pale skin so well. The bronzer is the perfect slightly shimmering bronze, and it is my go to bronzer. As I reach for this palette most days, it has to be in my pick of the top products for the year.

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue

I was late to the party with this base product. I know it has been well loved for a while by many others, but I didnt discover it until August time. Its a tinted moisturiser, but with slightly more coverage. Does that make sense? What I love about this product is that it evens out my skin tone, but still lets my skin be seen. Its my skin, but better! Again, I wrote a full review on it in this post, Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue – A Review. Its been my base product since I purchased it back in July, and I am on my second tube. I love it.

Charlotte Tilbury Very Victoria Lipstick

I only really discovered Charlotte Tilbury this year. I am now obsessed with the brand. My first product from them was an eyeshadow palette, then I ventured into their lipsticks. I have a few now but this colour, Very Victoria, is probably the one I have used the most. A browny, nudey colour, it is just so wearable, comfortable and I like it with whatever make up look I have. The way I prefer to wear it is pressed onto my lips, so its a stain of colour, rather than swiped on. Its a “matte” finish, but unlike traditional matte lippies, its moisturising and soft on the lips. I adore my Pillow Talk lippy from Charlotte Tilbury matte range, but this one just pips it to the post as top lipstick as its so wearable.

Real Techniques brushes

I know strictly speaking they are not a product, I had to include them as I have not had one day where I have applied my make up without using them. I especially love the expert face brush and powder brush. I have had mine for about 2 years and they are still as good as new.

Kiehls Turmeric Masque

This has to have a spot in my top five, as it was such a revelation to me! I have always been a bit of a brand snob when it comes to my skincare, only using cosmecutical products on my face, but trying this masque actually opened up a whole new world to me, and if you follow me on Instagram, you would have seen this smeared all over my face on a regular basis on my stories. I did write a full review, Discovering Kiehls helped me get over my brand blinkers, as I really was impressed by it. I still only use cosmecutical moisturisers and serums, but I will now try differant brands for masques, toners etc.

So, thats it! My 2017 round up of products that I have really been enjoying. I did find it hard to pick just 5, but in the end I went with what do I use on a weekly/daily basis.

What discoveries have you made this year? I would love to hear in the comments. You know I love to try new products, so let me know xx

Hi, thank you so much for stopping by! I agree, RT brushes are just great little work horses. This is the second thing I tried from bare minerals, the first was a stay on matte liquid lip, that too was fab. Def worth a look at the range xx. Thank you for your comment
