A Travel and Lifestyle Blog
I know, I know, bold statement right? I treated myself to this case recently, (well thats a lie, Nik bought it for me as he wanted to steal my old one), and I have used it three times now, twice for five day trips and once for a three day. I have put it through its paces, so am ready to share with you why I think the Travel Hack Pro Case is the best cabin case ever.
Firstly, and I know the most shallow of reasons, just look at her. Is she not a thing of beauty? Rose gold zips, Chanel-esqu padding, hot pink interior lining. I mean, she is a looker! I knew that I was not alone in admiring the beauty, when the cabin crew on her maiden voyage all commented on her looks, asking me where they could get one! I also showed the case off on Instagram stories, and one of my fellow travel enthusiasts fell in love at first sight, and ordered her own one. This cabin case is a classy looking little number.
Now, shallowness aside, let me tell you why I make this bold statement. This cabin case was designed by a travel blogger. Monica, from The Travel Hack felt that she could not find a cabin case that suited all her needs, so she designed one! Monica is an extensive traveller, so straight away I felt that she would have known what us carry-on luggage lovers would want and need from a case. She knew that it had to be ultra practical and usable, but look pretty too!
Lets start with the outside. The material the cabin case is made from is a durable, soft, faux leather for those style touches, and a hardwearing Pu material for the remainder. It’s main body is a diamond shaped padding design, in black, with chunky rose gold zips, which just make the case look stylish. Yes, we pick a carry on case for its practicality, or course, but if it can look a little bit fancy, why not! You know I love a bit of fancy, and with its hot pink interior finishing off its dressing, its definitely got fancy!
Perfect. That is the size. Just perfect. When I opened the packaging that the case came in, I was convinced that there was no way it was carry on size. I was sure that I would get to the gate of my Easy Jet flight to Jersey, (you can red about that trip in this post, Things to do on a short break in Jersey) and my case would be taken from me to put in the hold. Even though I had measured it a gazillion times, I waited nervously in line to board, thinking up elaborate reasons why they could not seperate me from my case. I didn’t need to worry, the size was FINE and in the allowance. It also fits in the over heads no problem at all. Ohhh Kerry of little faith….
So, the main compartment of the bag has a 28 litre capacity. You then have an additional pocket on the top of the bag, (I will tell you about this in a sec), as well as water bottle holder and Mac book slot. The dimensions of the case are within pretty much most airlines maximum carry on case allowances, with the vital statistics being 55x40x20cm. It is also super lightweight, weighing just 2kg so its fine to load it up with those 9 pairs of shoes you definitely maybe need for a three day trip…..
Now, lets move on to all the bells and whistles…… My absolute favourite feature of this cabin case, and the thing that sold the case to me, is the top pocket on the case. The reason Monica put this top pocket on? To slip your handbag in when you are travelling with those annoying airlines that only let you have one piece of carry on luggage! Genius eh? This top pocket also has an internal zip up pocket, and two open pockets.
If you are flying with an airline that allows a handbag in addition to your case, well this pocket makes your life easier! The other beautiful way to use this pocket, and the way I have used it every time, is to put your clear bag of liquids in. No rummaging around in your case, no flustered scrabbling for the liquids at security. Just open the zip and there they are. Boom! I also put shoes, my book, packs of sweets for the plane and travel document wallet in this pocket. Its also great for putting your camera, lenses and chargers etc in. I blooming love it and it is genuinely a game changer for me!
In all three of my trips so far, I have had room to spare. It just holds way more than you think, and more than my old case! I bought a few bits in Jersey to bring home, something I can’t usually do as I have no room. I was over the moon. Nik was thrilled about that particular detail too………
Telescopic handle – you have a telescopic handle that pops up to wheel your case along by. This comes out from its own little pocket on the back of the case and goes up and down easily. The only teeny tiny point I should make here is that if the handle is out, the grab handle of the case is kind of hidden, so you cant easily grab the handle to life the case up etc. Its not an issue in any way if the handle is down, but I felt I should point it out, and as I say, the handle is a dream to slide back down. No more causing chaos in the aisle trying to get your handle to slide back in!
Interior pockets – The case has three internal pockets in the main compartment. Each one zips up and is roomy. A padded pocket, a large full width pocket, and a narrow pocket.
Packing Straps – Two strong and sturdy packing straps are in the case. The clip fastener is smooth and easy to open with one hand too! No phaffing about.
Padded Mac Book Holder – This large padded pocket at the back of the case is brilliant. I usually take my Mac book away with me, so I love that it is protected and stowed away in its own little pocket.
Water bottle holder – A large water bottle pocket is on the side of the case. The pocket can be unzipped to expand it if you have the larger bottles of water with you. My refillable water bottle is 500ml, and I did not need to unzip the pocket.
Luggage Tag – Everything looks better with tassels right? Well the luggage tag holder is in faux leather, with a faux leather tassel sitting right there with it. I told you she was fancy…
I am sure by now, you are nodding your head agreeing that this case does live up to my declaration that it is the best cabin case ever right? You too want to travel with the pretty case, I just know. Well, you will be thrilled when I tell you the the case is very reasonable. I expected it to be around £100 like my old one was. Nope. It is priced at £69.95 and you can see more details, or order your own right here if you would like to.
Just as an added extra, I have recently discovered packing cubes! How have I survived without these beauties all this time! It’s like a secret that I am only just finding out! Well, I have these ones, (see them here) and they are perfect for my cabin case. I have my eyes on this set too, (see them here) as they match the lining of the case… So, not to be a braggy big pants here, but….my carry on is pretty blooming fabulous!
What do you think? Fabulous carry on case or what? How do you choose your luggage? Is it important to you that it is as pretty as it is practical? Have you mastered the art of packing for short breaks with no hold luggage? Packing cubes or no packing cubes? Tell me all..
