A Travel and Lifestyle Blog
Hands up who has been enjoying the warmer weather? We have had some glorious days haven’t we. Ok, not full on summer just yet but I can smell it I tell ya! I just love how everyone is happier when the sun shines. You can smile at a complete stranger and they smile back instantly, not all hesitantly in a why-is-that-weirdo-smiling-at-me way. I love it.
Anyway, as May rolls into June, its time for me to share my favourites from last month. Its quite (unintentionally) beauty find focused this month. Id love to hear of any great finds or rediscovered lovelies you have found this month!
Well, what a little gem I discovered this month. If you follow my Instagram, you would have seen that I made my very first purchase at the Kiehl’s counter this month. Id read a blog post by my lovely buddy Steph at Priceless Life of Mine, about the Kiehl’s pop up that had come to her town, and it made me want to go and explore this brand. Amongst my little haul, I came home with this body butter on the recommendation of Paul, my new BBF, at the Kiehl’s counter in Debenhams, Lakeside. (I have to add here, the service Paul gave was second to none). It is amazing! The texture is really light, it feels so rich, and the scent is good enough to eat. I find it has worked wonders on the dehydrated skin on my legs. You do need to let it absorb for a couple of minutes before dressing, but I promise you its worth it.
I love the Real Techniques brushes. I find them to be of great quality while still being pretty affordable. I am also obsessed with Nic and Sam Chapman, (Pixiwoo YouTubers/Bloggers, visit them here immediately if you haven’t discovered them, your welcome). They are make up artists so know what us make up lovers need in our tool kits. Well, the new brushes that they launched exclusively at Superdrug were the brushes. All of the range are shaped the same bristle wise, they are just different sizes. I bought the XL size and it is literally the most perfect brush for applying bronzer. Its domed head means that it kind of hugs your cheek bone so your product goes where you want it, and it so soft. I love this brush and use it most days.
Like so many of us, I am a huge fan of The White Company, but until recently, have never explored their bath/body range. This changed when I received a tube of hand cream from the brand in my Latest In Beauty subscription box that I had tried for the first time last month. (You can read the full post here) This hand lotion has really impressed me. I really struggle with dry hands as in my job, I can be washing my hands up to 20 times a day, so they just dry out. I apply this lotion of a night, and my hands still feel soft and hydrated in the morning. The gorgeous summery scent, Seychelles, lingers until the morning too. It is a great find and I will be buying the full size.
An oldie but a goody Iv rediscovered. I fell in love with this shower gel many moons ago, in a dim and distant memory, when I used to go to the gym on a regular basis. I do vaguely remember those days! My friend that I used to go with would always use this after our class, and she used to say that the decadence of a £20 shower gel was her reward for her workout. I loved that! I had some Boots reward card points, so when I was there a couple of weeks ago, I spotted the Clarins counter and used my points to buy me some reminiscence, and bring home Eau Dynamisante. If you are not familiar with this scent, it is one of the most refreshing, clean smells that I think you will find. It lingers on the skin, and every time I get a waft, makes me think of the gym workout that I obviously, very, very nearly did that day (ahem) I don’t use it every day, (I want it to last), but I when I do it makes me feel so happy!
I know I tend to have a weird, curve ball in my monthly favourites, (pull down wardrobe rail anyone?) so I suppose this one is it. I have a dream. A goal. An aim. To make that dream happen (I will tell you about it another time) I feel I need to be more aware of what I spend! I am really bad at starting the day with cash in my purse, ending the day with no cash and not really having much idea where its gone. This cash book, that I bought from Paperchase, (I know, the irony, I spent to learn how to save) is the holder of secrets. It is the key to unlocking my dreams. It also tells big fat lies about how much I spend. Ok, it dosent tell lies but its a bit blooming harsh! The book basically has room to write down every single penny you spend on a daily basis, and your income. (Im self employed so mine differs each week) What those little spending figures add up to each week is shocking. It has made me so aware of how much I waste, and my spending habits. For example, I have a habit of setting up standing orders for charities, (mainly animal ones), which is fine, but in my mind I don’t think of that as a regular outgoing. So that amount kind of gets forgotten about. Does that make sense? It has certainly opened my eyes up and making small changes is making big differences. A really great find for me this month.
So thats it. My May monthly favourites round up. Let me know in the comments if there is anything you have found amazing. x
