Five Favourite Things June

Five Favourite Things June

Well, thats it, another month gone. It really is crazy how quickly the months come and go isnt it. Not sure about you, but my countdown to Christmas starts soon, just sayin……………..

So my five monthly favourites this month were a little tricky as I have been trying quite a few new things, and love lots of them. I managed, and here they are. Ta-daaaaaa

Books and reading

I have always loved books, but finding time to read is always a trial. In my quest to be kinder to myself, I made a pact to read more. I have read a few books lately, (a fabulous but little scary novel by Val McDermaud was a good’un) as well as non-fiction books. Now, my love of being “present” and mindfulness is well documented, (I know, I bang on, I know) and I have read lots of books about it, but this little one I picked up in Waterstones, “The Things You Can See Only When You Slow Down” was so easy to read and insightful! It is written by a Buddhist monk, and the eight chapters are simply written, and say what they need to say in a light, easy way. Id really recommend it if you feel you need some help to calm, both mind and body!

One of my fave quotes from the book;

We do things fro the one we love, but sometimes just being there expresses even deeper love.

Give the gift of you FULL presence.

Aromaworks Reed Diffuser

Like most people, I love my home to smell nice, and have an obsession with scented candles that is probably unhealthy! In the warmer, lighter months, I do still burn candles, but not as many, so reed diffusers come into their own in these months. Iv tried lots of brands of diffusers, but these ones from Aromaworks are fantastic. They are pure aromatherapy, so have no nasties in them, and scent a medium sized room really well. My last one that I had lasted about 8 months. and I could smell it right up until it finished, so they really are quite reasonably priced I think. (they are currently on buy one get one half price at Holland and Barrett)

My make up items;

Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray

This setting spray has been around for a while, and is loved by many. I had never tried it until recently, as setting sprays have never really been my thing. I only bought this one Id heard so much about it. Well, let me just say, it was a godsend in the heat wave that we enjoyed recently. My make up did not budge all day! Literally, it stayed put through a full 12 hour working day of me doing facials, in a warm room. Amazing! I love that you can get it in a smaller size too if you just wanted to try it out.

Bobbi Brown Instant Longwear make up Remover

For me, this is hands down the best eye make up remover that I have tried. I got it free when I purchased a few items from Bobbi Brown a while back, so its just a mini size, (and almost empty) I absolutely hate it when a remover still requires you to tug and pull at stuborn mascara, or leaves you with the famous panda eyed look. I like my remover to be quick, non-greasy and gentle, especially as my eyes can be quite sensitive. Exactly what this little treasure from Bobbi Brown is. I will definately be re-purchasing, its brilliant.

Eylure Brow Amplifier

This was an item that intrigued me when it was offered (and I chose it) as an item option in my Latest In Beauty Subscription box last month. It is a little mascara type tube, that has a brow fibre gel in it to give your brows a boost, and give them more fullness if that is needed. I have been having brow drama for the last year or so. I went through a huge, prolonged period of stress and upset and as we know, stress does strange things and I went through a stage of unconciously, pulling the ends of my brows out. I know, weird eh, but that is the truth of the matter. I pulled the hairs out until the ends of my usually full brows, were bald as a badgers bum. Unfortunately, they have never fully grown back (yet) so I have found this to be a great little product for giving my brows some fullness. It has tiny little fibres in it, so instead of looking painted on, they look natural. The gel comes in three colours, I chose blonde, and it is a fabulous little make up bag addition.

Well, thats it, another five things I have loved this month. I feel I also need to add that Peonies have really, really made me happy this month. I just adore them and think that they are one of natures wonders. You would have seen my obsession with what I like to call “Peony Porn” on my Instagram stories if you follow me there. I just cant get enough of them, but as we are almost out of Peony season, Iv just given a nod to the beauties in this post, not a full on love fest.

Whats been rocking your world this month? Id love to hear!
