Mothering Sunday. Mothers Day. Whatever you choose to call it in your house, its the same. A day to celebrate Mums. Not that we should only appreciate our Mum’s on that one day of the year, of course, but its a day that families often get together and enjoy the day. I shared with you one idea to treat your Mum with my afternoon tea post last week, so here is another suggestion to spoil your Mum with. Im helpful like that……
My relationship with my Mum is precious. She, along with my husband, is my best friend. We have always spent a lot of time together, and always have fun. Our antics have always included lots of laughter, and we go in to London together often for shopping, girls days and theatre trips. My Mum was the first person I went to New York with, and as is standard with us, there is always a story to tell! Amongst other things in New York, we got chased out of a restaurant, abandoned in downtown New York, and had to chase a bus up the middle of the street, which made my jeans fall down to my ankles, and I flashed most of the New York cab drivers my drawers! Fun times!
I will keep the sentiment to a minimum, but the phrase “you only get one Mum” is so true, and we should love and appreciate our Mum’s everyday. My mum (and Dad) brought me and my brother up with love and warmth, as well as a strong understanding of right from wrong. Alongside that love and security, I was always encouraged to be my own person, dance to the beat of my own drum, work hard and make my own luck. I knew that any decisions or plans I had would be listened to and supported, and even when I decided to fly off to the other side of the world at 17, I was encouraged, despite the stress and anguish that must have caused. Don’t get me wrong, me and my Mum don’t agree on everything, and in some things have polar opposite opinions, but thats part of whats great. We can respectfully disagree (although, Im sure its me thats right….)
I cherish my Mum, and the relationship that I have been so lucky to have with her, both as a child and an adult.
In our family, we tend to all have dinner together on Mothers Day. My parents usually come to us, and Sunday roast is enjoyed. My husband even cooks it! My sons know the way to my heart. They usually come into my room in the morning, with a card that makes me cry (they always write such lovely words), then I get up to find a tray set with my favourite mug and little tea pot of tea, a bouquet of flowers and little gifts to spoil me.
As you would know if you have been with me a while, the boys are on to a winner gifting me with flowers, I adore flowers in my home. I think they just brighten a room and they always make me smile. The scent, the colours, just having that little bit of the outdoors indoors makes me happy. You can imagine how excited I was when Prestige Flowers got in touch and asked if I would like to receive a Mothers Day bouquet to review! I was thrilled and when they arrived, on a day that I had just spent the day with my Mum in London (great timing eh) I was blown away.
Prestige Flowers are an online company, providing beautiful bouquets and hampers for all occasions. I have used Prestige Flowers a couple of times in the past to send flowers to friends, and have always been happy. The flowers come in an upright, sturdy box to ensure they arrive in perfect condition. The bouquet I was sent was from their Mothers Day Luxury range, you can see the huge choice here, and came with a glass vase, gorgeous cuddly bear, and a box of decadent chocolates. So beautiful. (I have serious lust over the Sweet Sophistication arrangement that they also do)!
What I loved about this bouquet, was the colour and “aged” look to the roses. They were unusual and fit with the style of my home just perfectly. Roses always give you an amazing fragrance, and these were no different. The roses, together with the lilies within the bouquet, ensured my entire bedroom and hallway were fragranced.
Roses are notoriously hard to keep from wilting, I know, but I followed the care guide that came with the flowers, and the photo that is at the start of this post, is my flower bouquet, 8 days on. They are still looking perfect!
If you would like to treat your Mum this Mothering Sunday, I would fully recommend the value for money and service of Prestige Flowers. The service has always been brilliant when I have used them, and I have no hesitation in recommending them. Like the gift that keeps on giving, I even have a discount code for you, that gives you £5 off. It is valid until 2nd April. Enter the code VIP7711 at the checkout to redeem. (can only be used once per person)
What do your family do to celebrate your Mum? Do you enjoy gifting flowers? Id love to hear about your plans and traditions. As always, let me know in the comments.
**Although these beautiful flowers were gifted to me, all opinions and experience stated are of course my own.
