A Travel and Lifestyle Blog
Im not going to go on AGAIN about how much I love Autumn, and I promise that I will only use the word Autumnal, (one of my all time favourite words) about a zillion times in this post. However, I am loving my Autumnal (2) make up at the moment, so I thought I would share it with you. I also had to feature a pumpkin heavily in this post, its the beauty blogger law. Id love to hear any products that you are loving this season x
My skin has now lost its summer warmth, and is its usual, pale self this time of year, so I have dropped down a shade or two in my base product. I was really enjoying the Bare Minerals tinted moisturiser this summer, (You can see the full review in this post here) and as my skin is pretty good at the moment, I decided to stick with it. I like the sheer, my-skin-but-better coverage that it gives, so I picked up a lighter shade to use through the cooler months, my paler shade is “Natural”. I also love that is gives me SPF 25 protection. Important all year round ladies, you don’t need me to tell you that! I don’t use a primer with this product, I just apply over well moisturised skin. My preferred application with this is with a Real Techniques expert face brush. I pop a dap on my forehead, and a dab on each cheek, then blend it all over my face with my brush. Done!
My second step is bringing a little warmth into my complexion. At the moment, my bronzer of choice is from the Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look palette. Its a really soft, hint of colour rather than a full on bronze. I apply this to my cheekbones, across the top of my forehead and a dusting over my temples. It just adds a warmth and slight shimmer to my skin, which I really like. I adore this palette, (again, full review of the palette here) and something from it features in my make up most days.
Often through Autumn, I don’t apply blusher as well as bronzer. My make up is a pretty parred down, natural base. If I am applying blush, I have been reaching for my Mac blush in ‘Melba’. It’s a soft, peachy pink that again, adds a soft warmth and texture to my skin.
Throughout September I was on a make up buying ban, set by myself, to make me look at and enjoy all of the beautiful make up that I already own. It was a great exercise, as I re-discovered many of my pretty eye colours and palettes. One in particular that I have been loving is the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette. I hadnt really found my way with this palette, but my fellow pale-gal friend over at PaleGirlRambling blog convinced me to revisit it. Its full of colours that are just great for Autumn, and I find I am reaching for it daily. My favourite shades in the palette are Blow, Commando and Lethal, all top row.
I tend to use the lighter shade all over my eye, then apply the dark shade along my lash line. Just a thin smudge of colour as an eyeliner. I then use the mid shade colour, and put a wash of colour through the crease of my eye, but only on the outer third.
I also love the Jane Iredale Perfectly Nude palatte for this time of year. The colours Im using all the time from this one are the frst three colours, Cream, Foxy and Cappuccino, although Im longing to try the beautiful, orangey shade Copper. I may have a play and see what I can come up with.
My brows are in desperate need of tlc at the moment, so to try to get them looking ok I am using the Clinique Ultrafine brow liner to fill in gaps and give a little definition.
A slick of my Kiko mascara to finish, and Im done.
I do tend to be pulled towards richer shades on my lips this time of year, and the lip colour I am reaching for most days is Charlotte Tilbury Very Victoria. Its a warm, browny toned lip colour that suits my pale skin tone, but brings a bit of colour to the look. I love it. My evening lip is usually this rich berry shade from YSL Rouge Volupte range, number 20. I adore the texture of these lipsticks, they are so creamy and moisturising, and no words are needed about the packaging…….
I have tried to list the items in the Shop My Blog bar at the bottom of the page for you xx
